| Candy and I had been through alot together. I bought her for $400 when she was 5 months old. I was 19. I had the priviledge of having her in my life for 21 years. I used to hook her up to a pony cart and drive her down to the 7-11 convenience store through busy streets in Las Vegas when she was only 19 months old! She had an awesome disposition. In 1991 we won Rookie of the Year CCBRA barrel racing. In 1992 we won Reserve Champion English Pleasure Amatuer Owner and English Pleasure Limit. We could be seen Team Penning in Boulder City and Cutting in Pahrump. We tried our share of Team Roping in Henderson and at the old Los Rancheros in Las Vegas. Candy was much better at roping either end than I was! Candy had abdominal surgery in 1993 after eating 40 lbs. of pea gravel! Thanks to my mom and a generous boyfriend at the time, we came up with the $4,500 to save her. Candy ended up living almost another 14 years! What a character she was... Candy became Sonny's horse when she was no longer competitive at my level. When he lost interest, Candy was leased to our friends Ken and Val Glathier for their boys to learn to rodeo on. In the end she was 12 year old Donald Moyle's Jr. Rodeo mount. I never saw a happier kid as the day I told him he could use her. I thank Donald for giving Candy the opportunity to prove her worth and ability to the end as a competitive, loyal, and safe teacher and best friend! ...Always in My Heart BUENO CANDY BARS ... |
